NIRO RESIGNS

USCF delegates and others present at the US Open and annual meetings in Los Angeles were shocked to hear today of the resignation of Executive Director Frank Niro, who cited "health reasons" and is not expected to attend the meetings.

Niro had suffered a mild heart attack in February, but soon after said he felt better than ever and appeared to be fully recovered.  His departure will leave the Executive Board with the task of selecting a new ED to oversee the federation's move to Crossville, Tennessee, expected next summer.

The Executive Board has called a meeting for 5 pm today, presumably to name an interim replacement.
