44 SIGNATURES FOR SLOAN RECALL
Donna Alarie, the USCF Delegate from Massachusetts who has sent mail to delegates attempting to initiate a recall of Sam Sloan from the Executive Board, reports 44 signatures as of today and does not expect the recall to succeed. Two-thirds of the delegates, or 96 signatures, are needed to begin the recall process and bring this issue before the voting membership, where a two-thirds vote would again be required.
Alarie reports that many delegates who would like Sloan to be off the board do not support the recall because of the cost of doing the recall mailing and the fact that Sloan's term expires this August. If enough delegates sign the petition, it would probably be another three or four months before the ballots could be counted, and the board member removed from office if the vote is sufficient.
